Is Suchipakari in the Amazon rainforest?

Yes. Suchipakari is located in the Amazon rainforest, specifically in the Upper Napo region of eastern Ecuador. It is one of the most accessible lodges from Quito International Airport, making it an ideal gateway to the jungle.

How do I get to Suchipakari Lodge?

Your journey usually begins in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, which is well connected with daily international flights from South and Central America, North America (Miami, New York, Houston, Atlanta), and Europe (Madrid, Amsterdam).
Due to flight schedules, an overnight stay in Quito is often recommended.

From Quito Airport: The trip to the lodge takes about 4 hours.
Transportation options: Public bus, shared taxi, or private tourist transport (extra charge applies).
Private transfers: Suchipakari Lodge also offers private transportation from any city in Ecuador, directly to the lodge.

What is the weather like?

The climate is warm, humid, and tropical year-round.

Rainfall: Frequent, especially December to May

What if my clothes get wet?

No problem! We offer a laundry and drying service (extra cost). Clothes are usually returned within 12–24 hours, so you can keep exploring without worry.

What animals can I see at Suchipakari?

The lodge is surrounded by a biodiversity hotspot:

160 species of amphibians & reptiles
123 species of mammals
262 bird species (36 endemic)

Common sightings include monkeys, sloths, anteaters, caimans, colorful frogs, and butterflies. Lucky guests may even spot an ocelot.

Guided excursions by trail or canoe to Isla Anaconda, Kawana Reserve, Caiman Lake, and the Animal Rescue Center increase your chances of wildlife encounters.

Will I get bitten by mosquitoes?

Mosquitoes are fewer than expected, but precautions are still recommended:

Dietary needs: Our kitchen can accommodate most allergies and dietary restrictions. Please advise us in advance.
Meal times: Breakfast 7:30 AM · Lunch 1:00 PM · Dinner 7:30 PM (kitchen open until last guest finishes).

Do I need vaccinations?

No special vaccinations are required to visit Suchipakari.

Yellow fever and malaria are not registered in our area.
The CDC recommends routine vaccines before any international trip.

Payment, Cancellation & Rescheduling

Deposit required to confirm booking
Full payment due 15 days before arrival (non-refundable)
Non-refundable rates: Full prepayment at time of booking
Cancellations:
- 15+ days before arrival → no charge
- 14 days or less → 100% cancellation fee
- No-show → 100% charge
Rescheduling within the same year is encouraged.
