ANDES & AMAZON ITINERARY – 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS
DAY 1: QUITO - PAPALLACTA HOT SPRINGS - AMAZON RAINFOREST
Your private Andes & Amazon journey begins with an early departure from Quito, crossing the dramatic landscapes of Ecuador’s Eastern Andes. We stop at the famous Papallacta Hot Springs, where you can relax in naturally heated pools surrounded by mountain scenery (lunch not included).
Continuing toward the Amazon, we stop at Monkey Beach in Puerto Misahuallí, where capuchin monkeys often roam freely along the riverside — a perfect first welcome to the rainforest.
Upon arrival at Suchipakari Amazon Lodge, you’ll receive a warm welcome and a short orientation. In the afternoon, enjoy an introductory guided jungle walk, discovering medicinal plants, giant trees, and the biodiversity of the Upper Napo Rainforest. Later, cool off with river tubing, floating downstream at a relaxing pace.
After dinner, your guide will lead a magical night walk, when the jungle comes alive with nocturnal sounds and wildlife.
DAY 2: NAPO RIVER EXCURSION – CULTURE & WILDLIFE
After breakfast, we set out on a scenic Napo River navigation, one of the most authentic ways to experience the Amazon’s vast landscapes.
Our first stop is Amazoonico Wildlife Rescue Center, a conservation project dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating native Amazon species, a meaningful encounter with rescued wildlife in a natural setting.
The journey continues with a travel to Anaconda Island, where a peaceful lagoon provides the perfect setting for an unforgettable caiman observation experience. In the afternoon, box lunch before visiting a traditional Kichwa community house, where ancestral knowledge is shared through a demonstration of chicha de yuca preparation. You will also have the opportunity to test your aim using a traditional blowgun, gaining insight into indigenous hunting techniques and daily life.
Then, visit the Ahuano Community for an artisan pottery workshop, learning the cultural significance behind this ancestral craft.
Back at the lodge, enjoy an interactive Amazon Chocolate Experience, discovering cacao’s importance and tasting chocolate with fresh fruits. Dinner is served at the lodge.
DAY 3: BAÑOS DE AGUA SANTA – WATERFALLS ROUTE & ADVENTURE
After breakfast, we depart by private transfer to Baños de Agua Santa, Ecuador’s adventure capital, surrounded by rivers, cliffs, and volcano views. Along the way, stop at the Mira Mera Viewpoint (optional not included) for panoramic views of the valley and surrounding peaks.
Upon arrival, explore the famous Waterfalls Route, one of Ecuador’s most scenic drives. Enjoy a guided hike to the legendary Pailón del Diablo Waterfall, where the roaring water and mist create an unforgettable experience (lunch not included).
In the afternoon, you may choose to ride the cable car over Manto de la Novia or Agoyán Waterfall. We also visit the iconic Tree House, where you can swing at the famous “End of the World” and enjoy panoramic valley views.
Dinner is not included. In the evening, you can add an optional City by Night Tour to experience Baños’ lively ambiance.
DAY 4: CHIMBORAZO VOLCANO - HIGH ANDES EXPERIENCE & WHYMPER REFIGE

After breakfast, we travel into Ecuador’s highlands to reach the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve, home to wild vicuñas and vast volcanic landscapes.
Our visit begins at the El Arenal Tourist Service Center before reaching the famous Whymper Refuge (5,042 m), one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Ecuadorian Andes. For travelers who want more challenge, an optional trek to the Carrel Refuge and Condor Cocha Lagoon (5,100 m) is available (lunch not included).
In the afternoon, we continue to Alausí with stops at the historic Balbanera Church and the scenic Colta Lagoon.
DAY 5: DEVIL´S NOSE TRAIN ALUSÍ - QUILOTOA CRATER LAKE - HIKING, VIEWS & KAYAKING

After breakfast, we head to Alausí Station for one of Ecuador’s most legendary experiences: the Devil’s Nose Train (Nariz del Diablo), a true masterpiece of Andean engineering. The journey continues to Sibambe Station, where you’ll enjoy a cultural presentation by the local community before returning to Alausí.
We then continue by private transfer to Quilotoa, with a stop along the way for lunch (not included). An optional visit to the Palmira Desert (not included) can be added en route, a surreal landscape of rolling sand dunes set against the dramatic Andean highlands.
In the afternoon, we travel along the Avenue of the Volcanoes toward the unforgettable Quilotoa Crater Lake, renowned for its striking emerald-colored waters. Here, you may hike down to the lagoon (optional) and enjoy additional activities (not included) such as kayaking, boating, or a mule ride back up to the crater rim.
DAY 6: COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK - VOLCANO ADVENTURE & RETURN TO QUITO

On your final day, we explore the world-famous Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the highest active volcanoes on Earth. Along the way, we stop at the Toachi River Canyon and visit a colorful Tigua art workshop, where local artists paint iconic Andean scenes.
Inside the park, visit the Interpretation Center and the stunning Limpiopungo Lagoon. Then choose your adventure: a scenic horseback ride or a hike to the José Rivas Refuge (4,864 m), with an optional higher trek for experienced hikers.
Lunch will be along the route (not included). In the afternoon, enjoy a private transfer back to Quito (hotel or airport).
