7H00 PM |AN INTRODUCTORY TALK WITH THE SHAMAN TAKES PLACE
During this session, the shaman recommends the most suitable places for the ceremony and guides us on the necessary physical and spiritual preparation. One of the suggested locations is "El Gran Ceibo," situated in the heart of the tropical forest, allowing for a deeper connection with nature.
Before beginning the Ayahuasca session, the shaman performs a cleansing ritual using medicinal plants, sacred tobacco, and sacred chants called icaros, which the shaman uses to invoke the protection of spirits and guide the experience.
This ritual purifies the body and mind, promoting meditation and introspection. The goal is to establish a clear and conscious intention for the upcoming experience.
The climax of the ceremony is the ingestion of the medicine. Each participant receives a dose of Ayahuasca, which is consumed in silence and with respect. Ayahuasca contains DMT (dimethyltryptamine), a powerful hallucinogen that induces profound visions and alterations in perception, addressing traumas, blocks, and hidden aspects of the psyche.
DAY 2: NAPO RIVER NAVIGABLE TOUR
8H00 AM|BREAKFAST
We will participate in a talk with the Shaman, who will share his ancestral wisdom and provide guidance on his experiences.
We will head to the Lower Pusuno port, where we’ll board a motorized canoe for a 45-minute ride downstream. During the trip, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Napo River and spot bird and monkey species unique to the area.
Our first destination will be Amazónico, an Animal Rescue Center located on the Arajuno River. With the help of volunteer guides, we will learn about the experiences of ocelots, tapirs, peccaries, and a variety of birds, from parrots and toucans to macaws, all of which are working daily to re-adapt to the wild. This part of the tour is essential for continuing to ensure the protection of these animals and raising environmental awareness.
We will then continue to ANACONDA ISLAND, where we’ll find the Caiman Lagoon, a fascinating display of wildlife, including the prehistoric bird "Hoatzin," woolly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and even caimans. Don’t forget your binoculars to catch all the details.
After a short additional hike, we’ll arrive at a small Kichwa community, where we will be welcomed with a box lunch.
In the KICHWA COMMUNITY, you will have the chance to learn about the way of life in the Amazon, including their clothing, rituals, the preparation of yuca chicha, and how they utilize the forest’s resources in their daily lives. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and try traditional drinks and food; they love to share their ancestral knowledge and spread their worldview.
At the CERBATANA CHALLENGE, you’ll get to test your skills with this ancient blowgun weapon. On the way back to the lodge, we’ll stop by the town of Ahuano, where you can watch the local communities shape clay into delicate pottery using materials they find in the forest rivers.
Gold in the Rivers... For centuries, adventurers have been drawn to South America in search of gold. Where did they find it? Mainly in the river sediments, a practice that continues to this day. Locals, using a meticulous technique, spend hours sifting through stones and sand in search of gold traces. This is how they make a living, extracting and selling their findings. As we return to the lodge via the river, you’ll have the chance to see how they carry out this process, using the same techniques passed down from generation to generation.
7H30 PM | SPECIAL DINNER
Night Walk: On this excursion, a flashlight and a camera are essential to capture and listen to the sounds of nocturnal monkeys, bats, owls, insects, tarantulas, a wide variety of amphibians, snakes, and caimans in the swamp near the lagoon.
Return to the Ecolodge and relax
DAY 3: WATERFALL PURIFICATION BATH
8H00 AM|BREAKFAST
Around the lodge, we have several waterfalls where you can enjoy different trails, ranging from easy to challenging. You can choose the duration, from 45 minutes to 4 hours. Here are some options:
RAYUCOCHA CANYON: An adventure tour with an exciting hike along ancient trails leading to a hidden waterfall in Alto Pusuno. Medium difficulty.
RUMI YAKU WATERFALL: A trail filled with several small waterfalls where you can enjoy the fauna of the primary jungle.
UMBUNI WATERFALL: A picturesque waterfall featuring a small pool for jumping and natural slides for sliding. Easy difficulty.
Once back at the lodge, you can relax in preparation for the Ayahuasca Ceremony in the evening.
The shaman performs a cleansing ritual using medicinal plants, sacred tobacco, and sacred chants called icaros, which the shaman uses to invoke the protection of spirits and guide the experience. This ritual purifies the body and mind, promoting meditation and introspection.
DAY 4: INTERPRETATION OF VISIONS
8H00 AM|BREAKFAST
We'll start the day with a delicious breakfast filled with local flavors and natural energy.
The Ayahuasca retreat concludes with an integration period, during which participants reflect on their visions and experiences, receive guidance from the shaman, and meditate on the insights gained. Integration plays a crucial role in assimilating internal revelations and implementing changes into everyday life.
After a short break and time to pack, we bid farewell to the lodge team, who will assist us with the check-out process.
