DAY 1: INTRO TO THE RAINFOREST

JUNGLE 2 FULL DAYS TOUR

DEPARTURE FROM QUITO: On our route to the Amazon, weather permitting, we'll make a stop at 4100 meters above sea level to capture breathtaking photos of the Antisana Volcano.

ARRIVE TO THE LODGE: Following a period of relaxation and settling in, one of our Naturalist Guides will provide you with essential information about the tropical rainforest, Amazon SPA therapies, and the operations of THE RAINFOREST LODGE. Our aim is to equip you with foundational knowledge about this incredible environment as you embark on your activities. Lunch: Treat yourself to a delectable meal featuring local flavors and fresh ingredients, expertly crafted to tantalize your taste buds.

CEIBO ECOLOGICAL TRAIL: This ecological trail is named after the famous thousand-year-old Ceibo tree, the most imposing among the many trees we'll encounter, from the strangler figs to the medicinal plants. Each guide will share their expertise on the flora and fauna, including the daily activities of the animals observed along the trail

TUBING: After the hike, we'll gear up with swimsuits, sandals, and life jackets to head along the riverbank, weaving through the trees, to one of the river beaches. From there, our guide will demonstrate how easy it is to paddle and drift downstream. This experience will give us the opportunity to recharge for the adventure that awaits us in the evening.

DINNER & NIGHT WALK: After dinner, get ready with a flashlight and rubber boots to venture into the nocturnal realm of the rainforest. We will search for caimans, amphibians, bats, owls, and nocturnal mammals such as night monkeys with the assistance of our experienced guide, who will determine the best route through the forest or around the swamp and lagoon

Birdwatching - Canoe travel by the kawana reserve

DAY 2: DISCOVERING NAPO TERRITORY

Amazon wildlife | Kawana Lagoon Reserve

PLAYA DE MONOS: After breakfast, transfer to Monkey's Beach.

A renowned tourist destination, the quaint town of Misahualli, Ecuador, rests at the confluence of the Misahuallí and Napo rivers. This tranquil, off-the-beaten-path town boasts stunning jungle vistas and a sprawling sandy beach. Among Misahualli's most beloved residents are its monkeys, often spotted strolling along the beach or venturing into the central park of the town. From here, we'll continue our journey aboard a motorized canoe to reach the indigenous community...

INDIGENOUS VILLAGE: At this destination, we immerse ourselves in the rich traditions of the Kichwa culture. Engaging in casual conversation, we gain insight into their daily routines and customs. Guided by a local host, we have the opportunity to learn the process of making chicha, a traditional beverage (tasting is optional!), and witness the spiritual cleansing rituals that continue to be practiced within the surrounding community. Additionally, we partake in a blowgun target-shooting contest, though competing with the natives proves to be quite the challenge! This intimate and distinctive experience allows us to explore the nuances and shared aspects of diverse cultures, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our differences. Afterward, we proceed to the Huaoranies Lagoon

KAWANA RESERVE Canoe ride: where we'll continue our journey aboard a paddle canoe on the lagoon. During our excursion, we'll have the opportunity to observe various bird species, including the famous hoatzins, caimans, and the gigantic Amazonian fish, the PAICHE. Following our canoe adventure, we'll embark on a brief walk on the island. Make sure to have your camera ready, as the animals are often camouflaged among the trees. Return to Misahualli Port by motorized canoe to continue to the Waterfall Trekking

WATERFALL TRAIL: As we near the riverbank, we pause to enjoy our Box Lunch amidst the tranquil surroundings. The trail winds alongside a meandering river, weaving through impressive rock formations. Over centuries, the river has sculpted natural chutes and formed small pools along its course. Our journey begins with the sighting of a modest 10-foot waterfall. While not our final destination, it serves as a preview of the grandeur awaiting us further ahead. En route, the landscape captivates us with its striking beauty as the jungle surrounds us. We tread carefully, navigating through the dense foliage, mindful of trees, low branches, and colossal rocks. Amidst this serene environment, the only sounds are the gentle rush of water and the distant calls of unseen animals. Though concealed from sight, their presence is palpable. Insects abound, some adorned with vibrant hues that momentarily give pause, prompting thoughts of potential danger. Yet, we cannot help but marvel at their exquisite beauty.

Continuing on with the last leg of our journey, we'll reach the city of Tena. Here, you'll have the chance to extend your adventure to Baños de Agua Santa in the province of Tungurahua or head back to Quito. Please liaise with our guide for details on schedules and travel choices. We're grateful that you've enjoyed this brief yet immensely engaging tour with us.
