Indigenous Museum of traps

After breakfast, we will hike to the Napo River. We will cross a small river using the traditional Kichwa method. Across the river we will visit the Museum of Indigenous Traps - a community center that preserves the ancestral knowledge of the region and educates visitors about  Kichwa and other Indigenous Amazonian cultures, featuring displays of pottery from the Kichwa Culture, one of the first forest pre-Columbian residents of the Napo River basin. This is also a good place to shop local handicrafts made from rainforest materials.

Wildlife-watching

Observation of animals such as alligator, boas, toucans, parrots, monkeys, jaguars, turtles, anaconda,  and so much more. We will wear our lifejackets to continue navigating to the indigenous community “Sustainable Project - Organized by Kichwa women".

Paning Gold

Along the river banks, you observe the panning for gold done by Kichwa families . Gold panning is a major source of income to mantain Amazonian communities, these skills are past down from generation to generation. “The power of knowledge is commonly held in the community, by its people, its children,its youngers and seniors. It is the water and the life of its inhabitants and holds its secrets, and this is why for the Kichwa, water represents the pure life.”

Shaman Indigenous Ritual, Typical Dances, Music, Singers

We will continue on to the Interpretation Center, managed by women from the community. They will show you Kichwa culture, crafts, songs, language, ceremonial dance, traditional costume, the traditional uses of natural resources, and how to make cassava beer.

After lunch they will perform an ancient interpretation of The Sacred Stone, as experienced through Shaman visions and ayahuasca, used to purify and energize the body and the mind.
